Gino’s Honey Grilled Tuna With Crushed New Potatoes

Ok I know what you are thinking that is no way that You can feed four for less that a $7 serving tuna steaks, but the facts are you’ll have about 2 pounds change with smart shopping at Aldi. I’m a massive fan of their frozen yellow-fin tuna, it’s great quality.

The tuna steaks are individually frozen in their own pouches, so I usually just pop a pouch into the fridge the day before  I want to cook it. You get enough to feed four and more for just £2.99.

Anyway;s I was around my mums yesterday and Gino D’Acampo was on the box having Phil (the silver fox) and Holly cooking some tuna steaks on “This Morning TV”.

Ingredients

  • 4 defrosted Aldi tuna steaks
  • 1 packet of shop bought part cooked new potatoes.
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • Olive oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Fresh spinach or salad leaves, to serve

Method: How to make Honey grilled tuna with crushed new potatoes

1) In a bowl crush the potatoes using a potato masher.
2) Place a cooking ring into a hot pan and drizzle in the ring a small amount of oil. Carefully stack the potatoes into the ring and allow to cook until the potatoes have crisped up on the bottom. After a couple of minutes turn them over to brown on the other side – and have cooked through.
3) Meanwhile, in a large bowl massage a drizzle of olive oil and the honey and a pinch of salt and pepper into the tuna steaks.
4) Place the steaks on a hot griddle pan for approximately 2-3 minutes on each side – or until cooked to your liking.

To serve:

5) Carefully remove the potatoes from the cooking ring and position on a serving plate with the tuna and some fresh spinach or salad leaves.
